Blog Tour Stop/Review/Giveaway - Indulgence by Jeanne McDonald

Indulgence
by: Jeanne McDonald
Genre: Erotica/Erotic Romance
Release date: January 4, 2015
One night of indulging in her carnal nature will unlock a world of mystery and desire she never dreamed existed.

A year has passed since Addison George was left at the altar after her husband-to-be announced he was gay.  Still friends despite what happened, she secretly harbors hope that all of this was a phase and he will come crawling back to her.  That dream is shattered when he announces that he’s engaged to the man he left her for.

Spiraling out of control, Addison agrees to accompany her best friend to the sex party of the year. Hosted by world-renowned erotic romance author, Sebastian Hawk, exposed anonymity is the name of the game.  The rules are simple: all guests are required to remain nude for the duration of the event, except for a mask to hide one’s identity, and everyone must partake in at least one salacious delight.

Out of her sexual league, Addison spends the evening with a certain clothed employee who explains to her the world in which the enigmatic author lives.  While she wishes to understand more about the strange novelist, Addison can’t help but feel drawn to the handsome and mysterious employee who has introduced her to the sensual realm of Indulgence.

Lost in a world of secrets and passion, Addison will unmask the man behind the mystery while exploring her carnal nature.  Through it all, she’ll discover that not everything is as it seems, and to never judge a book solely by its cover.

Jeanne McDonald began telling stories at the ripe young age of five, when her mother considered the truth to be a lie due to her extensive embellishment to the retelling of an event.  She wrote her first short story when she was twelve years old, and at the age of sixteen she tried her hand at poetry.  She reconnected with her love for writing in 2010 thanks to the encouragement of a dear friend.

Her passions include a "mild" Starbucks addiction, music, reading, quotes, movies, and romance.  When she's not spending time with her family, she can be found reading, writing, chatting with her friends or diligently working toward her bachelor's degree in Literature.  A proud Texan, Jeanne currently resides in the Dallas/Fort Worth area with her family.

I extended my hand out to her, almost afraid she might bite it off.  She wrapped the red ribbon around my wrist, prepared to clasp it together with an adhesive strip.  “You are to wear your card at all times.  In each room, you will find plenty of writing, utensils along with protection.  For every partner you engage in activities with tonight, you’re required to notate their name on this card.  Tomorrow morning, you will hand this back in and we will return your license to you.  Is that clear?”
My jaw nearly hit the floor.  Not that I thought keeping track of our partners was a bad idea, because it was quite brilliant, but having some stranger sifting through my sex partners left me unsettled.  My crush on Sebastian Hawk was a moot point.  It was bad enough he had access to everything else, including my blood type.  This was my private affair, and I wanted it to remain that way.
I ripped my arm back before the clasp completely closed, leaving the card in scary lady’s hands.  “Excuse me, but I wish to keep my card.  It’s no one else’s business who I fuck but my own.”
“Addison,” Amber warned me.
I jerked my head up, looking at Amber.  “No.  This is ludicrous,” I argued.  “Who gives him the right to know who I fuck or not?”
“It’s no big deal.  Just take the card,” she hissed.
I might’ve been out my comfort zone, but I also wasn’t the type of person who’d back down when I felt something wasn’t right.  I had no qualms in speaking my mind.  It might’ve gotten me in trouble more times than not, but I figured if I didn’t defend myself, who would?
“No.  You said this was about freedom, about taking chances, but there are some things I don’t take chances with.  I refuse to allow…”
Out of no where, a man appeared behind the desk.  His light, blue-eyed gaze washed over me, causing every follicle on my skin to stand on end.  My body tingled with excitement.  All I could do was stare at him.  He was the epitome of a god.
Skin, lightly kissed by the sun.  Hair, the color of pale gold.  He was tall but the air around him made him appear taller.  The tip of his tongue darted out over his lips, and I had the sudden urge to reach out and capture it between my teeth.  My eyes drifted down, catching the sight of a hard, lean body.  His hands tucked away in his pockets, pulling his suit jacket away from his hips.  When I realized I was staring at his crotch, I quickly shifted my eyes to meet his.  Bad move.  Once locked in his sights, I was done for.
“Sebastian Hawk,” I rasped.

What a fast and fantastic read!

From the start, I knew this was going to be something different. Addison's BFF, Amber, was trying to get her to step out of her comfort zone and try something new.

I was pouring over the pages, eager to read Addison's adventures in this whole new world to her.

Once inside, Addison met a sexy bartender, Luke, and they had instant chemistry.

As Luke led Addison through the many rooms and levels, explaining and watching their surroundings, how could you not be intrigued to know more?

Indulgence was sexy, seductive, and unique.

I enjoyed Indulgence very much and give it my 6-star approval!

= For those books that were extra special for me. Sometimes they moved me emotionally or made me think deeply about a topic. Sometimes they were beautiful stories. Most of the time they were the books that I need to own and will reread over and over again because I love the characters and story.

~~SUMMARY~~
Rue-Toulouse-3D-Paperback-eReader
It’s Mardi Gras time in New Orleans. Attending a masquerade ball, wealthy fashion designer Caterine Doucette, dressed as a shimmering ice princess, has her cool façade shattered when she encounters Bayou-born ex-cop Remi Michaud, disguised as the darkly handsome pirate Jean Lafitte. Their true identities hidden, the princess and the pirate come together in an explosion of passion and desire. But when fantasy turns to cold reality, Caterine panics and disappears into the night, unaware this man will soon be sent to rescue her from a killer and will capture her heart.

Orphaned at a young age, Caterine grew up in the home of her beloved grandmother, Miss Dauphine Doucette. Despised by her Doucette relatives for the devotion she received from her grandmère, Caterine suffered years of envy and disdain. The young Caterine learned quickly how easily the love she had to give could be thrown back in her face.

After Miss Dauphine turns over ownership of the century-old fashion house, Ma Chérie, to Caterine, an attempt is made on her life, for there are those in the Doucette family who will stop at nothing to possess what they feel is their rightful inheritance.

Not knowing whom to trust, Caterine goes into hiding. Miss Dauphine, convinced someone in her own family is behind the attack, hires Remi, now working for a private security company, to track her down and unmask her would-be assassin.

Learning that the affluent Caterine Doucette is the beautiful princess he held in his arms at the ball, Remi is torn between his growing desire for her and painful memories of another rich socialite’s betrayal. Caterine finds herself falling in love with Remi, but old embedded pain leaves her afraid to open her heart.

Down in the Big Easy, Caterine and Remi must learn to trust one another if they are to survive in a world of family greed and ruthless revenge.

~~EXCERPT~~
Rue-Toulouse-3D-Book-Stack
“Hello, Princess.”

Caterine stared in disbelief at the man leaning against the door frame. Her mouth suddenly gone dry, she whispered, “Remi?”

“At your service.”

She opened her mouth and closed it several times before she stammered, “Wha-what are you doing here?”

“Your grandmother sent me.”

“Why?”

“Let me in, and I’ll tell you.”

Without a word, she stepped back to let him pass. He quickly scanned the room. “Nice, isn’t it? I’ve never stayed here, but I’ve heard it’s a great hotel. It suits you. But would you care to tell me why you’re here and not on a plane out of New Orleans?”

Caterine’s back stiffened. “I don’t see what concern that is of yours. I called Elaine and expected either Paul or her to come. So, again, what are you doing here instead of Paul?”

“You’re in trouble and need help.”

“But you don’t even know me.”

Remi smiled. “We have met.”

Caterine felt her face turning scarlet.

He chuckled. “I take it you remember.”

Remember? Oh, how she remembered. She’d relived those moments in his arms over and over again. And here he was standing in front of her wanting to help. It took everything she had not to throw herself at him. “I still don’t understand. How did you find out what happened?”

“I was on my way home when I heard Ma Chérie’s alarm. I found your hair clip and the blood on the sidewalk. What did that guy do to you?”

She looked away and in a barely audible voice said, “He held a gun to my back and tried to force me into a van.”

Remi’s jaw tightened. “That fils de putain left some blood. If we find him, we have a DNA sample.” He reached out and took her hand. “How did you get away from him?”

“First I swung wildly and hit him in the nose with the alarm remote I had in my fist. Then I got him with my umbrella.”

“Way to go, Princess.”

She gave him a slight smile. “And I’m pretty sure the remote saved my life. I set the alarm off while he held the gun to my back.”

“You must have been terrified. I promise we’ll get the bastard who did that to you.”

She tried to blink back the tears that suddenly filled her eyes.

“Don’t cry.” With the tip of his finger, he brushed away the tear that slid down her cheek. “You’re safe. I’m here.”

~~Natasha's Review~~
This was a good story and I enjoyed reading it. It had mystery, suspense, laughter and love.

The beginning starts with the death of Catherine's parents at a young age and her going to live with her wealthy grandmother Dauphine Doucette and her aunts, uncles and cousins.

Fast forwarding to the present where Catherine is now an adult and works at her grandmother's shop where they design clothes in the Quarter.

One evening Catherine attends her best friend Elaine and husband Paul's masquerade party dressed like an 'ice princess' and meets the stranger she spoke to from earlier in the day who introduces himself by the name of Jean Lafitte; a known pirate. He asks her to dance and she is surprised by the spark that is between them.

The pirate's real name is Remi; he leads Catherine outside and tells her he has to do something that he has wanted to do since he first laid eyes on her; he kisses her (swoon worthy!). The ever proper Catherine decides she will take things further and leads her pirate into the garden.

Their love story continues on from there with some twists and turns along the way ...

I give Rue Toulouse 4 🌟🌟🌟🌟 stars!

~~Guest Post~~
Family angst/rivalry, life after death and the distribution of assets is the cause of much dissension in families that experience the death of loved one. What do you think were the key (most vital) elements of such disputes, and how they evolve towards a resolution. Was there a particular message involving this theme that you wanted to portray?

Debby Grahl: In planning my outline for Rue Toulouse, I knew a large family was going to be one of the key elements of the story. I just needed to decide which vices I was going to give them. Greed, revenge, jealousy? Then I thought, why not use them all. A family inheritance is a theme that has been used many times in books, but I tried to put another spin to this.

In writing a romance novel, the reader must like both the hero and heroine. Creating their personalities can be enjoyable, but not as much fun as the really nasty characters they will be in conflict with.

Unfortunately, in our own lives we’ve come upon people whose personalities fit one or more of my three nasty elements. As a writer you can take their traits, expand on them, and develop a character that everyone either absolutely hates, or hates and likes at the same time. One example I can think of, and this was a TV show not a book, but you’ll get my drift, is J.R. Ewing from the show Dallas. He was a truly rotten person, but when he’d look at the camera and give you that grin of his, you couldn’t help but like him.

In Rue Toulouse, there is envy and jealousy and greed and fraud and violence, and at the center of it is an inheritance, in this case a business that has been in the family for generations. The resolution of the dispute relies not on a written will, but on the moral will of Caterine’s grandmère. Think of Maggie Smith and you’ll get the picture.

The other family “inheritance” is the ill will and even criminality of certain family members. From childhood, Caterine Doucette has had to deal with a family, only a few of whom are likeable and trustworthy and kind. She has survived, but she came out of it fearful of betrayal and reluctant to share her love. But a darkly handsome Cajun shows up to protect her and teach her how to trust in love.
