"Stolen Touches" is the first book I've read from author Neva Altaj. It's always a pleasant surprise to find a new author and a new series!
Mob boss Salvatore Ajello is attracted to Milene from the first time he lays eyes on her. Could it have been her less-than-cordial greeting of "Move, you idiot?" No one, and that means NO ONE talks to Salvatore Ajello that way and lives to tell about it. But there's something about Milene that Salvatore finds equally intriguing and confusing
Milene Scardoni is no stranger to the mob. In fact, her aversion to everything it stands for is part of the reason she's hiding from the Chicago Family in probably the most dangerous city imaginable. Perhaps that's what her undeniable attraction to Salvatore is all about. Who knows, It's clear there's something between Salvatore and Milene, but whether that attraction can survive once they discover each other's real identities remains to be seen.
I loved Salvatore and Milene's story. Both of these characters are interesting in their own right, and the dual perspective approach the author uses to tell their story helps the reader discover both characters from their own perspectives. We see Salvatore as more than a cold-blooded, ruthless mob boss. We find there's more to Milene than a spoiled mob princess. Neither are strangers to Cosa Nostra, but their journey to finding their "own thing" takes the reader on a series of emotional ups and downs, including unthinkable violence, swoon-worthy schmexy scenes, and yes, even a smile or two along the way.
