Blog Tour/Review/Giveaway - The Librarian Principle by Helena Hunting

SUMMARY

Annaliese Harper knows that one tiny mistake can jeopardize a career before it’s even begun. Letting your boss find the extensive collection of porn on your personal laptop is one way. Sleeping with him is another. Liese manages to do both.

As the new librarian at a prestigious small-town private high school, Liese is drawn to her sexy, charismatic principal, Ryder Whitehall—an attraction she refuses to acknowledge given their relationship and her recent liberation from a delusional ex-boyfriend.

Liese is certain Ryder’s flirtation is the product of her sex-deprived imagination—until he discovers her digital porn stash during working hours and demands a private meeting. Behind closed doors, their attraction explodes into a dangerous, passionate affair that not only threatens their jobs and reputations, but most of all, their hearts.

EXCERPT #1

“You have no idea how much trouble you're in.” His tone held none of the subversive humor that typically colored their private exchanges.
She swallowed thickly as he stopped in front of her. Even at his most relaxed, she found his presence intimidating, but the way he loomed over her now made her weak in the knees. The notion their relationship could be anything more than professional should never have entered her mind, no matter the temptation.
“I can explain.” Her eyes darted around the room in search of an escape she knew didn't exist.
“Your office. Now,” he ordered, grabbing her laptop in one hand and her wrist with the other.
Even though she was horrified, his warm fingers wrapped around her wrist thrilled her. The pull she fought ignited, flashing across her skin like fire. And then she remembered this might be the end of her career. He propelled her into the library office and dropped the laptop on her desk. He released her wrist and shut the door, turning the lock.
“Do you have any idea—” His eyes blazed, the words cut short as he tugged at his tie. Liese watched nervously as he paced the room, his head down, fingers gripping the back of his neck, jaw working as he ground his teeth together. She couldn't begin to imagine what he would do if he saw some of the other images she’d saved.
He gestured to the laptop. “What the hell was that?”
Liese jumped, a squeaky sound came out of her, and she clapped a hand over her mouth. Ryder rarely raised his voice.
It would be in her best interest not to reveal that her best friend had created a series of photoshopped pictures of the two of them in compromising positions. She also thought it wise not to say anything about the folder she’d created to store them, or how they fed her unhealthy infatuation with him. Or how they functioned as her primary source of masturbatory material.
“It was mostly a joke,” she mumbled.
“Do you think this is funny?” He looked incredulous as he towered over her, but his voice was smooth silk. Livid though he was, the tension between them pulsed like shock waves through the air.
“Not particularly, no,” Liese replied, refusing to look away for fear of appearing weak, or guilty. If she could maintain a facade of self-righteous indignation, maybe he wouldn't touch her laptop again. In her peripheral vision, Liese noted the way his hands continued to clench and unclench at his sides.
“Where did that picture come from? Are there more?”
Much to her dismay, his palm settled on the laptop.
“I really wouldn't—”
Ryder ignored her half-made request and flipped it open. It only took a few seconds for the screen to flicker to life and the advertisement to pop up. The gif played in a loop, the vigorous pumping continuing endlessly.
Liese sighed. “I don't think there's a way to explain this without it sounding incredibly bad.”
She buried her face in her hands and wished she could disappear as Ryder began to inspect the advertisement. Liese peeked through her fingers to watch him lean forward, hands splayed on either side of the laptop. Ryder squinted at the image, and then looked her over. His eyes moved down her body and back up, tracking her with an expression that bordered on predatory. Satisfied fascination knotted Liese’s stomach as the change took place: the undeniable draw she’d kept in check all this time echoed in his eyes. Some invisible line had been crossed, and Liese doubted she’d be able to return to the safety of the other side—the side where she pretended the attraction was all in her head.
“Please tell me that's not you.” A note of aggression lent a sharp and bitter tang to the words. His fingers flexed against the desk, the tips turning white with pressure.
“It's not my body,” Liese whispered, shaking her head.
“You're quite sure about that?”
“It's photoshopped.”
“Is that so?” He quirked an eyebrow, relief relaxed the tense line of his jaw. Ryder inspected the scene, apparently no longer fazed by the naked, gyrating bodies now that he knew she hadn't made a porno and pasted his head on her previous partner. Ryder minimized the picture, allowing a series of folders to pop up on the screen.

EXCERPT #2

The headboard creaked as his weight settled against the straining wood. With his cock inches from her face she closed the gap and brushed her lips across the tip, the hot skin satin smooth. Ryder grunted a particularly obscene expletive.
“Would you like me to start sucking up, sir?”
Ryder stilled above her. The fire in his gaze wiped the grin right off her face. She took him in her hand, stroking his length. With parted lips she lifted her eyes to his and licked up the shaft.
His grunt of approval encouraged her, as did the view. Ryder's muscles were corded and stark as he gripped the headboard. He shifted his hips forward with every stroke of her mouth and hand.
“God,” he panted, “I can’t. . . ” He slid one hand into her hair and held her still, withdrawing from her mouth.
She fisted his erection tightly, and his throat bobbed as he swallowed. When she asked if he was okay, he held up a finger and gave her a curt nod. It seemed like forever before he moved or spoke, and when he did, his response was so low she didn't catch it.
Ryder drew her up and kissed her. “Have I told you how much I enjoy when you suck up?” He tugged her bottom lip with his teeth. “Or how incredible your mouth is?”
Liese’s laugh morphed into a moan as she felt his slick erection press against her hip.
His hand went to her ass, and he squeezed. “Will you turn around for me?”
“Is there another option?”
“Did you need there to be one?”
“No. You can have my any way you want me.”
Ryder paused, suddenly serious. He kissed her again, but the passion was tempered with something she couldn't quite place, and it unnerved her.
Breaking the kiss, Ryder turned her to face the headboard and guided her hands to rest on the smooth wood surface. His palms traveled up her arms, over her shoulders, and down her sides. “So beautiful,” he murmured. He traced the curve of her hips to her thighs and spread her legs, bending her forward slightly.
“Is this comfortable?” he asked, waiting for her affirmation before he continued. His left hand covered hers as his other arm came about her waist. His fingers splayed out over her hip and moved down, making light passes over sensitive skin.
“Mmmm, good. I want you like this.” He nuzzled the back of her neck, reaching across to the nightstand for a foil packet.
After a few moments he toyed with her, replacing his fingers with his cock, stroking back and forth before slowly pushing inside. Ryder kissed his way across her shoulder and up the side of her neck, pausing at the hollow beneath her ear. “I knew you’d feel like heaven.”
Liese released a shuddering breath when his hips eased back. His hand ghosted along her ribs, palming a breast as he pushed back in. Ryder he moved over her, slow at first, the headboard protesting with the forward momentum. Chest pressed against her back, Ryder’s fingers slid between her own, his grip tight on the smooth wood surface, gaining leverage as his pace quickened.
His lips brushed her cheek, and she turned into the unexpected affection. “I want to feel you come while I’m inside you,” he said in a seductive whisper.
It was all too much: Ryder moving inside her, his fingers threaded tight through hers, the feel of his lips on her shoulder and neck, and then his teeth against her neck. He groaned on the next hard thrust, urging her to come again. The sensations he evoked paired with charged words of desire sent her over the edge. Freefalling into the abyss, Liese gave herself over to the feeling of being completely consumed. Her orgasm hit her with such force it sent her spinning, just as she’d predicted.
Ryder waited until she’d caught her breath before he started moving again. His hand travelled over her stomach and between her breasts, fingertips tickling hypersensitive skin. His palm came to rest gently against the base of her throat, thumb finding its way between her lips. Liese bit down, sucking softly, an erotic reminder of what she could do with her mouth. His other arm came around her waist and pulled her tight against him. He pushed in deep, stilling as he lowered his head to her shoulder, a low groan of satisfaction muffled against her skin. Then he collapsed onto the pillows, taking her down with him.
“Will you stay the night?” Ryder asked on an exhale, moving her hair aside so he could kiss her temple. “Because I'd like to do this again in the morning.”

REVIEW

“I knew you’d feel like heaven.”

ARE YOU KIDDING ME WITH THIS!!! OMG!!

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!

When you accidentally pull up porn instead of the correct file you're trying to show your boss, that had to be awkward.

Then, having a sexual relationship with him, was total WIN!

Heavy kissing in the library office, then full-on sex in the principal's office, equals very naughty!

Forbidden romance is hot, because it's just that... FORBIDDEN!!

I love all things Helena Hunting, but this was the cherry on top.

Hunting's writing is smart, sexy, witty, all wrapped up into one. Sure, there was a little drama mixed in there, but only Helena Hunting can mix all these things up and still have one sexy story to tell.

I am deeming The Librarian Principle a "Sexy Read" and giving it my 6-star read approval!

= For those books that were extra special for me. Sometimes they moved me emotionally or made me think deeply about a topic. Sometimes they were beautiful stories. Most of the time they were the books that I need to own and will reread over and over again because I love the characters and story.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Helena Hunting lives on the outskirts of Toronto with her incredibly tolerant family and two moderately intolerant cats. She’s putting her degree in English Lit to good use by writing contemporary erotic romance. She is the author of Clipped Wings, her debut novel, and Inked Armor.

“Okay,” I say to Max unsteadily as we lean into the printing press. “We start with the ink.” I take his right hand and place it over mine, take the stick and gently stir the paint in the can. The violet swirls, and I lift the wet stick and drip it across the screen.

I try to focus but his touch and the heat from his body permeate my senses.

Next, I pick up the squeegee, and we complete the motion of dragging the paint across the printing screen. But it’s awkward with his hand on only one side of the squeegee. As I lift the screen, he steps around and removes the print and reloads silently.

When he returns, he steps directly behind me, and since he’s taller and larger than me, he curls around me and reaches everything easily.

He slides both of his hands on top of mine.

I can hardly breathe I’m so electrified. Swirl, lift, stroke…His breath is hot against my neck.

We grip the squeegee, slide, pause, drag back with more force, lift.

I close my eyes so I can focus on his scent and the feeling of his arms wrapped around me.

He pauses before he steps away to switch the paper.

When he returns, he steps even closer so that when we extend ourselves across the print, he presses against me.

I gasp. All I can focus on is his arousal pressing against me. I’ve never wanted anyone this much.

By the third pass on the printing press, I’m trembling, and when he presses against me, I press my ass back into him, imagining him inside of me.

“Ava,” he moans.

As much as I want to turn around and face him, I don’t want to stop. I don’t want this moment to end.
“Again,” he groans.

This time, as I slide the squeegee up, he lets go, slides his hands up my arms and trails them down my sides. All the while, his lower body is firmly pressed against me. I could cry it feels so good to have him touch me in ways I never thought he would. I slowly grind my ass against him. His hands move down to my hips, and his fingers grasp my curves, pulling me closer.

I’m surprised he has the focus to change the paper, but he doesn’t reach around to help me with the screen this time. Instead, his hands return to my hips as our bodies press together, and he run his hands down the sides of my thighs and back up. He slips his hands under my tank, moving up my sides, across my ribs, and just skimming the edge of my bra. My nipples harden, aching for his touch, and my breaths are quick and short.

I drop my head and moan, “Max.”

“I know, baby, I know,” he whispers, pressing his lips in my hair at the nape of my neck. He steps away again and replaces the paper quickly.

“Again, Ava, for me.” He brushes his cheek softly above my ear and presses into me a little harder.

I try to concentrate on the trail of violet left from my stroke, but as I push up, his hands part. One slides down over my jeans, between my legs, and presses firmly against my sex. I drop the squeegee and grab the edge of the table, just as his other hand snakes under my shirt and pulls my bra down to cup my naked breast.

My breath catches in my throat as I revel in every sensation.

His fingers gently tease my nipple, and he kisses the side of my neck up to my ear.

I moan as the room spins, and I try to make sense of what’s happening as I come undone. The room is hazy with the softest highlights and shadows. I wonder if this is a dream.

* 18 years old and up due to sexual content*

Falon took advantage of the small gap between them to look. Silky pale skin covered her smooth musculature and feminine contours. Black lace accentuated the paleness of her breasts and acted as an artistic showcase for all that sheer perfection. The impulse to touch overcame him and he allowed his hands to rise and gently cup her flesh. She reacted with a sharp hiss and reached behind her back to unclasp her bra. The garment went slack in his hand, and he let it drop in favor of touching bare skin. Hardened nipples beckoned his mouth, and he obeyed instantly to flick his tongue across the tip of one and rolled the other between his finger and thumb. Rita's moan accompanied her fingers cupping the back of his head, nails raking his scalp in a way that inflamed him even more. He pulled her nipple between his lips and sucked hard, drawing a gasp from her. A muffled bang from below made them both stiffen just as a buzzer sounded in Rita's apartment. "Shit!" She pulled away and scrambled for her bra and shirt. "Trouble in the bar. That was the shotgun."

Exclusive Interview with Aden
This interview was done by Aden's PA, Ashley. The questions were complied from fans of Aden's.
Ashley: What was one of your biggest regrets?
Aden: Not spending more time with my dad when he was sick. I missed a lot.
Ashley: What is your favorite color?
Aden: I don't really have one, I like grays and blues mostly.
Ashley: Did you ever imagine being an author?
Aden: Not really, I was satisfied with the editing work and just writing for my own amusement. An old friend suggested I should publish something and I finally went ahead with it, and there was no going back once I did.
Ashley: What's the best gift you've ever received?
Aden: #1 Elyse, by becoming my wife, and #2 Ash, you, agreeing to work with me and becoming my friend.
Ashley: What inspires you in life?
Aden: Life I guess, lol. I look around at all the miraculous things and how could I not be inspired.
Ashley: There has been some rumors that you aren't a male and could even be gay, can you clear that rumor up for us?
Aden: Ummm, last time I went to the bathroom, yep, definitely male. All still there. You wouldn't even imagine the gay part if you knew me, lol. No, totally straight.
Ashley: What's your favorite food?
Aden: Depends, but Chinese takeout is one of my favorites, and I love Italian and Mexican, oh and peanut butter snickers.
Ashley: How do you write? Outline or freehand?
Aden: I outline but sometimes the story strays and I have to adjust.
Ashley: Is there a book out there that you've read that you wished ended differently? If so, what is it is and by who?
Aden: I don't think so, none that I can think of at the moment.
Ashley: If you could have dinner with an author, dead or alive ... who would it be?
Aden: Got a while for my list? Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Brad Meltzer, Zane Grey, Louis L'Amour, and on and on and on, lol. I'm absolutely fascinated by the ways different authors have found success and wonder about their failures.
Ashley: If you weren't an author what would be your next dream job?
Aden: To own and operate a horse ranch, no question.

And so…
The Mad, Mad Love Begins…

Excerpt #1
Excerpt from Before Ryan Was Mine, The Remembrance Trilogy, Prequel, Copyright 2014, Kahlen Aymes, All Rights Reserved.

My beer slipped from my fingers, and I scrambled to catch it but it was being lifted by another set of slender fingers without the blazing red nails.  By the time my eyes shifted up and focused, Julia was leisurely taking a drink from my bottle.   Her hooded green eyes appraised me, with my date almost on my lap.  I barely noticed Leah because my attention was on Julia, and then her eyes shifted twelve inches right, landing on Leah.  Julia hated beer, but still here she was, stamping her ownership with something as simple as a pull on my beer bottle.   She probably didn’t even know the effect it had on me at such a base level, but I fucking loved it.  Something tightened deep inside my chest, and my dick twitched inside my jeans.
“Ryan!  Are you gonna let her do that?”  Leah demanded indignantly, her eyes flashing haughtily up at Julia.
My lips raised in the slightest smirk.  Julia echoed it when her eyes locked with mine.
“Yeah, she… uh, she can do that,” I confirmed without emphasis.  Amusement at Julia’s confidence made me want to laugh out loud.  I felt fucking elated.
Leah huffed beside me and angrily flung herself back against the cushions of the couch, removing her leg from mine.  “Well, do you know her?”
“Yeah. Yeah, I know her.”  Boy, do I know her.
Julia wobbled a little, and I could see she’d had more to drink than she needed.  Still, she grinned at me, her arm bent at the elbow as she curled my beer close to her chest, not drinking, just holding it in place.  My instinct was to reach out or stand up to steady her.
Angrily, Leah pushed on my shoulder and spewed venom in Julia’s direction.  “Are you going to introduce us?  Is she your sister?”
Julia started to giggle.  “Pffft!  Do I look like his sister?”
“Then who are you?” my date demanded, her expression hard.  I watched the exchange, anxious to see what Julia would say.
“Oh, we’re ….”  She handed back my beer and walked behind me to sit on the top edge of the back of the couch and slid her hand over the shoulder Leah had shoved.  “Well, let’s see… we’re…  mmmm...”  Her words were nonchalant but her eyes widened, waiting for me to finish the sentence.  “What exactly are we, Ryan?”
“This is my best friend Julia.  Jules, this is Leah.”  I said the words carefully, but couldn’t tear my eyes from Julia’s face.  Her features were filled with laughter and devilry.
“His date,” Leah spat.
“Congratulations.”  Julia focused on Leah and wagged a finger in her direction.  She was clearly tipsy.  “You need a donut.”
A laugh burst from my chest because I couldn’t help myself.  You need a donut. I thought it was fucking hilarious, but Leah was clearly pissed.
“What did you say?”
“You seriously need a donut.”
Leah looked indignant and furious, but my shoulders were visibly shaking with laughter when Julia turned her attention to me. “Can I talk to you for a sec?”
“Excuse me,” I murmured to Leah then immediately rose to follow Julia a few feet away.  “Are you being careful?”
“Is it just a coincidence that you and Twiggy are here tonight?”
I swallowed at the accusation in her tone.  She was tipsy, but her eyes still burned into mine.  “Yeah.  I had no idea you were even going out, but I’m glad I’m here.  Who is that guy?”  I wanted to ask why she let him touch her in such a familiar way but clamped my jaw shut.
“He’s a guy.  Collin, I think?  No big deal.”  She shrugged nonchalantly, and her hand came to rest on the front of my shirt.  I should have been reassured as her deep green eyes looked up imploringly.  “Don’t worry, Ryan.”
It was all I could do not to cover her fingers with my own.  “I worry.”
“I know.”  She leaned in and wrapped her arms around my waist in a brief hug and the scent of her perfume engulfed me.  “I’m glad to see you.  I’ll call you tomorrow.”

Excerpt #2
~Ryan
The biggest moment of my life found me unexpectedly.  It crept up softly, and settled around me like a fuzzy blanket.  A mere whisper; it hit me like a sledgehammer.  At the time, I knew it was significant, but I didn’t realize just how those few seconds would change absolutely everything: how one brief glance could leave such an indelible stamp on the remainder of my life.  It would become a contradiction; an unstoppable force that would send me reeling out of my control, churning and shredding my emotions, but create the most incredible contentment I’d ever feel.  Contentment that could wrap me up in a warm, safe place or devastate me to the core and leave my heart in shambles.  It would become years of want and pain, lust and love… It would hurt like the deepest hell, but become the most euphoric and precious ecstasy I’d ever know.  I’d never forget that day, that moment; that glance.
It would wreck me.  It would make me.

Blogger's Thoughts:

We're going back to where it all began.

Ryan and Julia are so beautifully written, I couldn't help but fall in love with these characters. This story has resonated down to my very soul.

It's so amazing to read about this young couple, and how neither one of them wanted to jeopardize their friendship.

They kept questioning themselves if they should risk their friendship to be with their true love, or should they just stay best friends. It was a troubling decision for both Ryan and Julia throughout the story.

I felt their struggles, their frustrations, and their blooming love.

And what a mad, mad, love it was.

This was such a beautiful love story and Ryan will be mine forever!

Oh, and in case you didn't know...

I give Before Ryan Was Mine by Kahlen Aymes my 6-star rating!

= For those books that were extra special for me. Sometimes they moved me emotionally or made me think deeply about a topic. Sometimes they were beautiful stories. Most of the time they were the books that I need to own and will reread over and over again because I love the characters and story.

I was born in the Midwestern United States and educated at a private university where I received a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Business Administration.

I've always been creative with art, music, theater and writing. I decided to write a story as a way to build a network for a business venture. The reader support of my stories and my overwhelming desire to find out where my characters would take me, soon had the writing morphing the business. No one was more shocked than I. When readers began nominating my work for online awards, it took my breath away and only made me love it more. It soon became clear that writing was, and should be, my focus.
