Blog Tour/Review/Giveaway - The Librarian Principle by Helena Hunting

SUMMARY

Annaliese Harper knows that one tiny mistake can jeopardize a career before it’s even begun. Letting your boss find the extensive collection of porn on your personal laptop is one way. Sleeping with him is another. Liese manages to do both.

As the new librarian at a prestigious small-town private high school, Liese is drawn to her sexy, charismatic principal, Ryder Whitehall—an attraction she refuses to acknowledge given their relationship and her recent liberation from a delusional ex-boyfriend.

Liese is certain Ryder’s flirtation is the product of her sex-deprived imagination—until he discovers her digital porn stash during working hours and demands a private meeting. Behind closed doors, their attraction explodes into a dangerous, passionate affair that not only threatens their jobs and reputations, but most of all, their hearts.

EXCERPT #1

“You have no idea how much trouble you're in.” His tone held none of the subversive humor that typically colored their private exchanges.
She swallowed thickly as he stopped in front of her. Even at his most relaxed, she found his presence intimidating, but the way he loomed over her now made her weak in the knees. The notion their relationship could be anything more than professional should never have entered her mind, no matter the temptation.
“I can explain.” Her eyes darted around the room in search of an escape she knew didn't exist.
“Your office. Now,” he ordered, grabbing her laptop in one hand and her wrist with the other.
Even though she was horrified, his warm fingers wrapped around her wrist thrilled her. The pull she fought ignited, flashing across her skin like fire. And then she remembered this might be the end of her career. He propelled her into the library office and dropped the laptop on her desk. He released her wrist and shut the door, turning the lock.
“Do you have any idea—” His eyes blazed, the words cut short as he tugged at his tie. Liese watched nervously as he paced the room, his head down, fingers gripping the back of his neck, jaw working as he ground his teeth together. She couldn't begin to imagine what he would do if he saw some of the other images she’d saved.
He gestured to the laptop. “What the hell was that?”
Liese jumped, a squeaky sound came out of her, and she clapped a hand over her mouth. Ryder rarely raised his voice.
It would be in her best interest not to reveal that her best friend had created a series of photoshopped pictures of the two of them in compromising positions. She also thought it wise not to say anything about the folder she’d created to store them, or how they fed her unhealthy infatuation with him. Or how they functioned as her primary source of masturbatory material.
“It was mostly a joke,” she mumbled.
“Do you think this is funny?” He looked incredulous as he towered over her, but his voice was smooth silk. Livid though he was, the tension between them pulsed like shock waves through the air.
“Not particularly, no,” Liese replied, refusing to look away for fear of appearing weak, or guilty. If she could maintain a facade of self-righteous indignation, maybe he wouldn't touch her laptop again. In her peripheral vision, Liese noted the way his hands continued to clench and unclench at his sides.
“Where did that picture come from? Are there more?”
Much to her dismay, his palm settled on the laptop.
“I really wouldn't—”
Ryder ignored her half-made request and flipped it open. It only took a few seconds for the screen to flicker to life and the advertisement to pop up. The gif played in a loop, the vigorous pumping continuing endlessly.
Liese sighed. “I don't think there's a way to explain this without it sounding incredibly bad.”
She buried her face in her hands and wished she could disappear as Ryder began to inspect the advertisement. Liese peeked through her fingers to watch him lean forward, hands splayed on either side of the laptop. Ryder squinted at the image, and then looked her over. His eyes moved down her body and back up, tracking her with an expression that bordered on predatory. Satisfied fascination knotted Liese’s stomach as the change took place: the undeniable draw she’d kept in check all this time echoed in his eyes. Some invisible line had been crossed, and Liese doubted she’d be able to return to the safety of the other side—the side where she pretended the attraction was all in her head.
“Please tell me that's not you.” A note of aggression lent a sharp and bitter tang to the words. His fingers flexed against the desk, the tips turning white with pressure.
“It's not my body,” Liese whispered, shaking her head.
“You're quite sure about that?”
“It's photoshopped.”
“Is that so?” He quirked an eyebrow, relief relaxed the tense line of his jaw. Ryder inspected the scene, apparently no longer fazed by the naked, gyrating bodies now that he knew she hadn't made a porno and pasted his head on her previous partner. Ryder minimized the picture, allowing a series of folders to pop up on the screen.

EXCERPT #2

The headboard creaked as his weight settled against the straining wood. With his cock inches from her face she closed the gap and brushed her lips across the tip, the hot skin satin smooth. Ryder grunted a particularly obscene expletive.
“Would you like me to start sucking up, sir?”
Ryder stilled above her. The fire in his gaze wiped the grin right off her face. She took him in her hand, stroking his length. With parted lips she lifted her eyes to his and licked up the shaft.
His grunt of approval encouraged her, as did the view. Ryder's muscles were corded and stark as he gripped the headboard. He shifted his hips forward with every stroke of her mouth and hand.
“God,” he panted, “I can’t. . . ” He slid one hand into her hair and held her still, withdrawing from her mouth.
She fisted his erection tightly, and his throat bobbed as he swallowed. When she asked if he was okay, he held up a finger and gave her a curt nod. It seemed like forever before he moved or spoke, and when he did, his response was so low she didn't catch it.
Ryder drew her up and kissed her. “Have I told you how much I enjoy when you suck up?” He tugged her bottom lip with his teeth. “Or how incredible your mouth is?”
Liese’s laugh morphed into a moan as she felt his slick erection press against her hip.
His hand went to her ass, and he squeezed. “Will you turn around for me?”
“Is there another option?”
“Did you need there to be one?”
“No. You can have my any way you want me.”
Ryder paused, suddenly serious. He kissed her again, but the passion was tempered with something she couldn't quite place, and it unnerved her.
Breaking the kiss, Ryder turned her to face the headboard and guided her hands to rest on the smooth wood surface. His palms traveled up her arms, over her shoulders, and down her sides. “So beautiful,” he murmured. He traced the curve of her hips to her thighs and spread her legs, bending her forward slightly.
“Is this comfortable?” he asked, waiting for her affirmation before he continued. His left hand covered hers as his other arm came about her waist. His fingers splayed out over her hip and moved down, making light passes over sensitive skin.
“Mmmm, good. I want you like this.” He nuzzled the back of her neck, reaching across to the nightstand for a foil packet.
After a few moments he toyed with her, replacing his fingers with his cock, stroking back and forth before slowly pushing inside. Ryder kissed his way across her shoulder and up the side of her neck, pausing at the hollow beneath her ear. “I knew you’d feel like heaven.”
Liese released a shuddering breath when his hips eased back. His hand ghosted along her ribs, palming a breast as he pushed back in. Ryder he moved over her, slow at first, the headboard protesting with the forward momentum. Chest pressed against her back, Ryder’s fingers slid between her own, his grip tight on the smooth wood surface, gaining leverage as his pace quickened.
His lips brushed her cheek, and she turned into the unexpected affection. “I want to feel you come while I’m inside you,” he said in a seductive whisper.
It was all too much: Ryder moving inside her, his fingers threaded tight through hers, the feel of his lips on her shoulder and neck, and then his teeth against her neck. He groaned on the next hard thrust, urging her to come again. The sensations he evoked paired with charged words of desire sent her over the edge. Freefalling into the abyss, Liese gave herself over to the feeling of being completely consumed. Her orgasm hit her with such force it sent her spinning, just as she’d predicted.
Ryder waited until she’d caught her breath before he started moving again. His hand travelled over her stomach and between her breasts, fingertips tickling hypersensitive skin. His palm came to rest gently against the base of her throat, thumb finding its way between her lips. Liese bit down, sucking softly, an erotic reminder of what she could do with her mouth. His other arm came around her waist and pulled her tight against him. He pushed in deep, stilling as he lowered his head to her shoulder, a low groan of satisfaction muffled against her skin. Then he collapsed onto the pillows, taking her down with him.
“Will you stay the night?” Ryder asked on an exhale, moving her hair aside so he could kiss her temple. “Because I'd like to do this again in the morning.”

REVIEW

“I knew you’d feel like heaven.”

ARE YOU KIDDING ME WITH THIS!!! OMG!!

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!

When you accidentally pull up porn instead of the correct file you're trying to show your boss, that had to be awkward.

Then, having a sexual relationship with him, was total WIN!

Heavy kissing in the library office, then full-on sex in the principal's office, equals very naughty!

Forbidden romance is hot, because it's just that... FORBIDDEN!!

I love all things Helena Hunting, but this was the cherry on top.

Hunting's writing is smart, sexy, witty, all wrapped up into one. Sure, there was a little drama mixed in there, but only Helena Hunting can mix all these things up and still have one sexy story to tell.

I am deeming The Librarian Principle a "Sexy Read" and giving it my 6-star read approval!

= For those books that were extra special for me. Sometimes they moved me emotionally or made me think deeply about a topic. Sometimes they were beautiful stories. Most of the time they were the books that I need to own and will reread over and over again because I love the characters and story.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Helena Hunting lives on the outskirts of Toronto with her incredibly tolerant family and two moderately intolerant cats. She’s putting her degree in English Lit to good use by writing contemporary erotic romance. She is the author of Clipped Wings, her debut novel, and Inked Armor.
