Easy Melody by Kristen Proby

ABOUT EASY MELODY

Callie Mills never intended to return to New Orleans and the life she left behind more than a decade ago. There was no need to open old wounds when she had the life she’d worked hard for in Denver. But when she’s fired from her awesome job in Colorado and her father dies, she has no choice but to return home to run the derelict bar left to her in the heart of the French Quarter. Callie must not only face bad memories but turn The Odyssey into something she can be proud of.

And who better to help bring in crowds of people than Declan Boudreaux?

Declan is a sought-after musician who knows he’s good at what he does and loves doing it. Known to pack the house, he also loves women and doesn’t expect to be knocked back a step by the beautiful new owner of The Odyssey. Callie is sharp, gorgeous and funny, and makes him yearn for something he never has before… Commitment.

But when Callie’s able to turn the business around with renovations, making it one of the hottest bars in the Quarter, will she sell out and leave her past behind once and for all, or will Declan be able to convince her that’s she’s where she needed to be all along…in his arms.

REVIEW BY CINDY

Easy Melody is book three in the Boudreaux Series by Kristen Proby. Finally! Declan’s story!

Declan is the third of the Boudreaux brothers. I have been waiting for his story since this series began. He’s a musician, and I’m always intrigued by that. Dec’s also the reclusive, sensitive one of the three brothers. What is it about those quiet ones that is so charming?  Of course, if an intriguing, sensitive, charming man with a penchant sleeping around isn’t enough. Let’s also make him 6’4”, tatted, and ripped. Yep, Dec’s undeniably hot!

Callie Mills is one of the strongest female characters I’ve read in a while. She’s sassy and smart, but she’s also sweet, and that sweetness has cost her in the emotional department. It’s understandable, then, when Declan makes a play for her, that she’s more than a little hesitant. After all, he’s a self-proclaimed manwhore. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with a little “fun,” now, is there?

Easy Melody had all the parts I love in a Kristen Proby story. The characters are likable, and the story has just enough “fiction” to feed the reader’s fantasy. There’s also some welcome surprise cameo appearances by characters from another series. Oh, and there’s also one of her signature “girls’ night” scenes that had me laughing out loud.

My favorite thing about a Kristen Proby story is the happily ever after. There was a little more angst in Easy Melody than some of the other stories in this series, not to mention a few more tender tears. I was a little worried there for a few chapters, but in true Kristen Proby form, the HEA was delicately and tenderly delivered.

Five “easy” stars!
