Review by Cindy
Listen to Me is
the first book in Kristen Proby’s new Fusion series. This series follows the
lives of four friends who have opened and are currently running Portland’s
hottest restaurant and club, Seduction. Listen
to Me is Addison and Jake’s story.
What I have always loved, and continue to love, about
Kristen Proby’s female characters, is that they are smart and independent, and
not afraid to take charge and speak up. The Fusion woman are no different. From the very beginning, I felt like I was
just hangin’ with ‘the girls.’ They are
hard-working, dedicated women, and I connected with them as professionals. As
friends, they laugh together, and do the whole girl’s night-out thing. But what
I think I loved even more was that they support each other. Even when it wasn’t
really welcomed, the girls seemed to know exactly
what their friend needed, and they weren’t afraid to give gentle nudges (or
a rough shove) when the situation called for it.
Jake Keller (aka Knox) is one sexy rocker. Since leaving
the rock scene, he’s happy being alone, and thinks he’s got it all figured out,
but Jake misses the stage. So when he is encouraged by his best friend to take
a side gig at Seduction, Jake can’t resist the temptation… of performing, or of
the beautiful blonde manager, Addison. Jake
and Addison have a good time together, but both of them have relationship baggage
that keeps them from taking the plunge.
Listen to Me is
fun and sexy, but with a dose of drama – just enough to keep me turning pages
to see how it all ends. No spoilers here, but it wouldn’t be a Kristen Proby romance
without a happy ending.
Five “happy” stars.
