Bounty hunter Jake Harlowe knows how to track a criminal. So when a group of swindled shareholders hires him to trail their former CEO, Jake expects a quick trip to the Cayman Islands to close another case. Until a devastatingly beautiful woman gets in the way.
Steph Anderson is visiting the Caymans for a rock climbing and dive trip—or so she tells Jake. She’s really trying to find out whether or not her stepfather embezzled money from his company. The last thing Steph needs is the distraction of a sexy, charming man whose kisses drive her wild.
Soon, the pair discover they’re after the same target—and millions in jewels. While Jake can’t be certain Steph isn’t working for her stepfather, and Steph can’t be certain Jake isn’t after the diamonds for himself, they can agree the heat between them is intense, and neither can deny the passion for long.
But the morning after, Steph discovers that she just might have slept with the enemy, and now she’ll have to outwit him to get everything she needs…

The Sapphire Affair is the first in a new two-book series by author Lauren Blakely. A little spoiler alert: this book ends on a cliffhanger; however, the follow-up novel, The Sapphire Heist, will release one month later, so readers will have all their answers before the end of summer.
Lauren Blakely is a favorite author of mine. I love her writing style. She has a way of putting her readers right in the scene – whether it’s swimming with sea turtles, savoring a Cherry Popsicle margarita, or getting “busy” with the sexy hero – you feel it, taste it, experience it. Lauren’s scenes transport her readers.
She’s also one of the most versatile writers on my “always read” list. I look forward to a new Lauren Blakely series, because it’s the promise of a new kind of story. Whatever genre you favor, I guaranty you will find a Lauren Blakely series to suit your taste, from serious stories dealing with difficult, emotional relationships, to schmexy series so hot you need oven mitts to turn the pages, to characters who make you laugh out loud, she delivers. The Sapphire Affair was no different. A welcome surprise game of cat and mouse with so much sexual tension between the lead characters that you could cut it with a… diamond.
I love Steph. She’s lovingly devoted to her family, and them to her. Even after the all the crap her ex Duke lobbed on her, she still has a sweetness that connected me with her from the start. Steph is sassy, and if we take Jake’s word for it, incredibly sexy. Don’t mistake her sweetness and sass for na·ive·té, though. Steph is one smart woman.
The sexual tension between Jake and Steph is off-the-charts hot. Agreeing to join forces to find out what happened to the money her step-father took from her mother means the two also agree there should be absolutely no “hanky panky.” Right. Of course. Mixing work with pleasure would be out of the question. Good. So they both agree... except well, you know, they can’t seem to keep their hands off of one another. Or their lips, for that matter.
The Sapphire Affair is a fun, quick summer read. Lauren Blakely readers will enjoy another little gem (pardon the pun). A performance by Jane Black, and Joy Delivered party. I love how Blakely characters make cameos in future her series!
So, in closing, let me count it out about Jake. One, he’s a devoted family man. Two, he’s a handsome, ex-military, sexy dirty-talker – you know the ones. Three, he’s everything I look for in a hero. Wait… is he the hero? Well, darn it, now I’m not sure. Did I mention the cliffhanger?
Five fun, summer-read stars.
